Rogowski coils
Rogowski coils, rope current sensors, and current transformers are devices used to measure electrical current in power systems. Rogowski coils are flexible, air-cored sensors that provide accurate, non-intrusive measurements of AC current by detecting the magnetic field around a conductor. Rope current sensors are large, flexible sensors similar to Rogowski coils, often used for measuring high currents in industrial settings by wrapping around conductors. Current transformers (CTs) are traditional electromagnetic devices that step down high current levels to a manageable, proportional current for metering and protection, typically used in both AC and DC systems, providing reliable and accurate current measurement for instrumentation and control.
